Ensoniq Ali (aka Rhythm), born in Los Angeles, currently Tokyo resident, discovered his love for dance and music at the tender age of 4 years old. Being that his father was a photographer for and diehard fan of Motown Artists, The Temptaions, The Jacksons and many others, Ensoniq Ali naturally gravitated towards movement and sound. By the time he was in Junior High, he was sponsored by Reebok International, as a dancer, touring major cities across America and Europe. Soon after he and a close buddy Sketchomatic, understudies of radio personality Big Boy and Dj Ray, started to Dj house parties around their hometown of Culver City.
The late 80’s to mid 90’s vibe of Hip Hop, RnB, Drum and Bass, House and Funk is what Ensoniq Ali keeps close to heart, while creating. Using these genres as a steppingstone, Ali’s intent is to open a new plateau of easy listening and soulful boom bap. A feel that people can nod, bounce, or drive to.
Being a religious LP collector of soul, animation, jazz and classical, Ali fuses chopped samples, melodies and sounds from the past for tomorrow. Honing his style for many years, Ali presents a fresh style of electronic music that pays homage to musical geniuses and producers A Tribe Called Quest, Da Pharcyde, J Dilla, Pete Rock, and J Swift. Ensoniq Ali’s debut EP “The Fabulous Life Of Being Unkown” (FLBU) is a soundtrack to life in two worlds…Los Angeles and Tokyo.
